The spring drop of the Court 02 sold 81% of 12,000 pairs in four weeks and brought in €412k, 38% more than the autumn drop on a smaller budget. The reason is one line in the channel table: thirty-eight creators on €48k out-earned €95k of paid social three to one, and the content that did it was shot on feet in the street, not the studio photography we sent them. The autumn drop should move the money accordingly.

The photo we shipped, and the photo that sold

Every creator received the studio pack below: white sneaker, white ground, three angles. Thirty-one of the thirty-eight ignored it and filmed the shoe on their own feet on the way somewhere. That on-foot content averaged four times the engagement of the posts built on our pack, and it is the reason the funnel below is shaped the way it is. The product is the same; the context is what people saved.

What the creators shot instead: the shoe on feet, outside, mid-errand.

Reach was never the problem

The campaign reached 2.4 million people and 9,700 of them bought. The drop-off that matters is not at the top: it is between the site visit and the cart, where sizes sold out in the wrong order and the size guide sent people to a page that did not exist for the Court 02. Fix that one step and the same reach is worth roughly 2,000 more orders.

Three to one, and it is not close

Creators returned €4.80 per euro; paid social returned €1.20 and fell every week as the audiences saturated. Email did what email always does, at a cost that rounds to nothing. Paid search stayed flat because nobody searches for a shoe they have not seen yet. The trend column is the whole argument: two lines rising, two falling.

Orders followed the posts by about a week

Creator posting peaked in week three, orders peaked in week one, which looks like a contradiction until you remember the first week was the waitlist converting. From week two on, the order line tracks the post line with a lag of six to eight days. That lag is the planning number for autumn: the brief has to land ten days before the drop, not on the day.

After the waitlist week, orders tracked creator posts

First size gone

EU 42, then 41, then 43

Sizes sold out in the wrong order

We bought the size curve from the autumn drop, which skewed to a male audience. Spring creators skewed female, so 38 to 40 sold out first while 44 and 45 are still on the shelf. A third of the abandoned carts in the funnel were people who wanted a size that was gone by day 14. Autumn buys the curve from this drop’s orders, not the last one.

What the creators told us

We asked the ten best-performing creators why they ignored the pack. Nine gave a version of the same answer.

Your photos look like an ad. My audience skips ads. They stop for a shoe they could see themselves wearing on a Tuesday, so I filmed the shoe on a Tuesday.Creator, 84k followers, the highest-converting post of the drop

The moment it surfaced

The channel numbers were known by week two. The reason behind them came out of one question about the creative, not the spend.

Nadia

Creators are at 4.8x and paid is at 1.2x on the same product. Same photos, same offer. What is different?

assistant

Not the same photos. Only 7 of the 38 creators used the studio pack; the other 31 shot on feet outdoors. Splitting the creator posts by that alone: pack-based posts average 1.1% engagement, on-foot posts 4.6%. The paid social creative is 100% pack-based. The channel gap is mostly a creative gap.

Nadia

So we test on-foot creative in paid before we cut the budget.

assistant

Yes, and the week-four paid test with two on-foot videos already returned 2.9x. Paid is not dead; the pack is.

Autumn drop: move €60k from paid social into the creator pool

The proposal is not to abandon paid. It is to fund the format that works and stop paying for the one that does not. The creator pool goes from 38 to 80 briefs on €108k, paid social drops to €35k of on-foot creative only, and the size curve comes from this drop’s orders. Same total budget, roughly 2,000 more orders on the spring funnel, before any growth in reach.

  1. Creator pool to 80 briefs, on-foot only, briefs delivered ten days before the drop.
  2. Paid social capped at €35k and restricted to creator-made video.
  3. Size curve and the size guide page fixed before the waitlist opens.

Next steps

  1. Founders sign off on the autumn allocation by 15 May so creator outreach starts in June.
  2. Buy the autumn size curve from the spring order data, weighted to the sizes that sold out first.
  3. Ship the Court 02 size guide page and re-run the cart step of the funnel on the summer restock.
  4. Re-test paid social with the top five on-foot videos at €5k before committing the €35k.
